Purpose This class teaches how to use the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) within PI ProcessBook to automate tasks and integrate data from other applications. It also teaches how insert ActiveX controls into PI ProcessBook to implement new features that use PI data or are triggered by changes to PI values. No system management or API programming is taught in this class. Prerequisites ProcessBook and DataLink Configuration training. This class is devoted to using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to access the ActiveX automation capabilities of PI ProcessBook. There is no basic Visual Basic instruction, and students are required to be familiar with this language. If you have never used Visual Basic but are fluent in other programming environments(such as C, Fortran or Pascal) you may be able to do the class exercises. If you have no programming experience you will probably not be able to complete the exercises in time to keep up with the class material.
