Purpose
This course follows on from the ProcessBook & DataLink configuration courses.
For experienced users, it teaches the tasks required to use datasets, ActiveX controls, calculated and filtered data in order to produce complex reports and analyses
Prerequisites
Attendance at ProcessBook & DataLink Configuration courses. This course is for students who have a good understanding of a Windows environment,ProcessBook and DataLink and Microsoft Excel. On-site experience can negate the necessity to attend the Configuration courses.
Class Content
Day 1
PI Calculation & ODBC datasets (plus exercises)
- operating targets using datasets in a trend
- using datasets in xy plots
ActiveX controls & VBA basics
- VB ActiveX control for alerts via email & SMS
Day 2
PI DataLink Advanced Features
PI Trends in Excel
PI DataLink—calculated & filtered data (plus exercises)
- Counting process events for analysis
Excel VBA basics
- How to make a spreadsheet update itself
